Jumping into the unknown

Yesterday morning Nick and I met with a realtor. Today she came back and took pictures in order to put together a virtual tour of our home. Tomorrow, our house will officially be "on the market."

For the last several months, Nick and I have been processing a big decision that I haven't written about at all. We are planning to move to North Carolina. We've been sitting with the decision for a long time waiting for things to fall into place, and the closer we get, the more decisions we make. Putting our house on the market really offers a sense of finality to the decision.

The craziest part of this whole thing is how much is unknown. We have a lead on a house opportunity in North Carolina. We have friends and family there. The local university has grad programs that look promising. But, other than that, we don't have any specifics nailed down. And technically, while I doubt it will happen, we could receive an offer this week. And technically, we may not close until next spring.

Either could be exciting. And both will feel completely overwhelming.
